A very cool historic atmosphere with great food (especially the award winning shrimp and grits). On one of the walls is a hand drawn map by union soldiers that was used for strategic planning during the Civil War.

At the center of Savannah’s historic district lies Forsyth Park, a must see when visiting. Bring your dogs, kids, whatever, and enjoy a nice picnic or afternoon stroll. That’s sort of all there is to say about a park, but see the famous picturesque fountain!

Check this out on a map — amid surrounding inns, historic homes, churches, and museums, lie 22 squares on a nearly perfect grid. Each square has its own unique ambiance and history, but they’re all adorned with greenery and big oak trees.
City Market is a little on the touristy end, but definitely still a great visit packed with historical value. It's survived and thrived after two fires, a civil war, and a great hurricane, remaining the heart of Savannah through it all. Nicknamed the "Art and Soul of Savannah," there are tons of eye catching shops, art galleries, cute bistros, and live music, all with an old school feel. You can turn your venture to City Market into a day by taking a short walk to River Street afterwards.
